The Keshi perfume range is part of European budget supermarket Lidl. They have received considerable positive publicity on their extremely inexpensive fragrances.

Comparisons have been made between some Lidl perfumes and Chanel (1), “Some believe that the exorbitant cost of designer perfumes is merely a product of fancy packaging and expensive advertising campaigns: Chanel’s adverts have featured Hollywood actress Keira Knightley racing through Paris on a motorbike and speedboat, while the brand’s 2004 advert for the No 5 scent memorably cost £26 million and starred Nicole Kidman”.

Keshi Jewel was released in 2015, and Keshi Float in 2016. They currently cost £5 each for 100mls.

keshi jewel lidl perfume review

The packaging is basic, a cardboard tube in burgundy with gold lettering. Keshi Float has baby blue cardboard with silver lettering. The bottle is clear and square, and instead of a lid it sports a matching petersham ribbon on a metal clip which surrounds the nozzle. This prevents it from spraying until the clip is removed, which can be quite fiddly.

The Jewel bottle has a diamond motif on the front, and Float has a wing.

The notes have not been released for these fragrances, so I will surmise.

Keshi Jewel:

Opening notes: Pear and orchid.

Middle notes: Iris and bamboo.

Base notes: Amber and musk.

This has a sweet, fresh opening. It smells modern, youthful, and rather subtle. The bamboo gives a sophisticated touch, and I am certain that people would not be able to guess how inexpensive this is from scent alone. This is similar to Lamb by Gwen Stefani. The drydown is powdery with a rich amber aroma and the musk is mild. Longevity is comparable to a good quality product.

Suited: Evenings and nights out.

Rating: I give this a silver medal for well recommended.

Price: Extremely inexpensive.

Keshi Float:

Opening notes: Lilies and pear.

Middle notes: Orchid.

Base notes: Amber.

This has a sweet, juicy, fruity opening. Initially it reminds me of one of Beyonce’s perfumes. It doesn’t have as much depth however, and comes across as rather two dimensional. The drydown is light in contrast with Jewel, with the orchid note dominating.

Suited to: Spring and summer use, better for teens, and suitable as a first perfume.

Rating:  I give this a bronze medal, the price is excellent but try before you buy.

Price: Extremely inexpensive.
