“He chortled in his joy”. – Alice through the looking glass.

This men’s aftershave classic from Avon was released in 1975 (1) and discontinued circa. 1982.

Avon has been producing men’s cologne alongside perfume for decades. It is inexpensive, good quality, and often has original gift packaging. Below is the every day Hud bottle, with a sporty style lid in lime and burgundy.

Hud by avon aftershave reviewMany of the novelty bottles are now very collectable, below is the Cannonball Express bottle and box, a moulded glass train filled with Hud aftershave. It also came in a popular figural footballer bottle.

Hud by avon aftershave review 1

Opening notes:  Cloves and coriander.

Middle notes: Black pepper.

Base notes: Vetiver, oakmoss and civet.

This is a spicy gentleman. It could easily be mistaken for a high end designer cologne, the quality is excellent, has fantastic depth, and has aged wonderfully, a true vintage gem. The drydown becomes sexy, the incredible civet note is thrillingly sensual. This will enhance any man of any age.

Suited to: This will heat up a cold autumn and winter very well.

Rating: I give this a silver medal for well recommended.

Price: Can be found inexpensively on the secondary market.
